There is only one thing that is essential in running a small business these days and it is family. To be successful in any business you must rely on the people you work with day in and day out. Over time our customers and the relationships we have formed means so much to our success, and our future.
Moving forward Sue and I are excited to welcome the next generation of our family to the business. Our daughter, Elizabeth, will be a graduate from UCONN with a degree in Horticulture, and our son Tyler will be attending a local horticulture school this fall. They both would like to help the business expand in ways Sue and I could never imagine. I guess there's a lot to be said of our young generation coming. Excitement and dreams keep you young and motivated.
Sue and I are looking forward to helping our kids take over the family business. It is exciting to think about a little more time together, and with our children coming into the business we are convinced that there is a bright future ahead.
For close to 40 years we have made quite a few friends. I would like to think that the landscapes we create add more to the life and enjoyment of our customers. This past year one of my closest clients, who I started landscaping for back in 1972 passed away. She had us continue to work on her landscapes every year till her passing. In such sad circumstances I was proud to be so trusted and to see all the joy and pleasure she got from our landscape jobs.
As we look forward to 2010 we are excited to introduce you to great new varieties of annuals, perennials, shrubs and more vegetable plants. Our goal remains to create every garden and each colorful container to exceed your expectations. As we look ahead to the warmer weather we are excited to see you again and bring just a little more color and beauty into your life.
Sue and I are looking forward to seeing you all again soon. So let's hope for some warm weather and the sense and wonder that each new gardening season brings.
