After the brutal winter that Connecticut endured this past season, all of us here at Scovill’s Garden Center are excited to start off this year with a fresh approach to meet all of our customers needs. My brother Tyler and I are excited to start 2011 as the next generation of Scovill’s Garden Center & Landscape Contractors!

Tyler graduated from high school last June and is now fulfilling his dream as the Landscape Manager at Scovill’s. Last year Tyler expanded the services that Scovill’s offers by creating a property maintenance chapter. Additionally, Tyler plans on further expanding the Landscape services by following his passion of excavating.

Since graduating from University of Connecticut this past year with a degree in Horticulture and a minor in Landscape Design, I am excited to bring my knowledge and experience back to our Garden Center, as the Garden Center manager. I look forward to expanding our custom planting services as well as designing landscapes for our customers.

With different areas of expertise within our business, Scovill’s is adopting a new image as a more versatile and, more importantly, family-owned and operated business.  We are looking forward to transitioning into the positions that our parents have occupied for over 30 years. Furthermore, we are both excited to begin to grow relationships with customers that our parents have known for years, as well as develop relationships with new customers.

After watching our parents estimate for years, Tyler and I are now estimating ourselves. Not only is this an exciting milestone for us, but it is also an important factor in us building relationships with our customers as we transition into the business.

We are excited to introduce you to new varieties of annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, and more vegetable plants this year. Much like our parents, our goal remains to provide you with the tools, plants, and expertise necessary for you to create the gardens and landscapes of your dreams. As we look ahead to the warmer weather, we are excited to see all of you, and to bring more color and services into your lives.

Tyler and I are looking forward to seeing all of our customers and meeting new ones! We are both excited to take on the challenge of owning an agricultural business, especially since Scovill’s is continuing in our family as the second generation.
